    John was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 31st he is the oldest of four children born to John Agar Sr.

    and Lillian Rogers Agar.
    He attended Harvard School for Boys in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Pawling Prep in Pawling, New York He served his country for three years as a physical training instructor with the U.S.

    Army Air Corps. Upon his discharge he signed a seven year contract with David O. Selznick.
    A year and a half into his role as Michael O'Rourke in John Ford's "Fort Apache".
